A New Logo for Colorado Springs
April 19th, 2012 2:13 PM

At the end of last year, a team of designers came up with a logo for Colorado Springs. "Live it up!" faced much controversy from the community, mostly with the local design and marketing community. Although the design team sought out the input of many people from the community, such as business owners, tourists, and families, the result of their input was not favorable. Many felt the logo was a cliche that could apply to any community instead of being unique to Colorado Springs. Most were hoping the logo would express the uniqueness of Colorado Springs, and "Live it up!" just didn't do that. The goal was to come up with something to differentiate our city from other cities and our competitors.

Another team, Troy and Sara DeRose of Fixer Creative Co., came up with a new design. The new logo captures the colors of Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods, along with the big blue sky that we see almost every day. The new team designed the logo with the city's most majestic scenery in mind and all that encompasses the uniqueness of our city in a simple form. The clean, fresh image speaks for itself and has been met with more favorable appeal from the community.

We now can move forward with our new logo and market our city to the country as a great destination for travel, a great place for businesses to relocate, and simply a desirable place to live. This was the intention of the logo and now that we have it, we are able to put it to use and hopefully benefit our community in a positive way.
